Brännland - Ember Äppelglögg 2023 (unbeatable with Stilton)

Still & Sweet Spiced Ice Cider

Ember 2023 maintains the style of the previous vintage but offers a slightly more pronounced sweetness on the palate, despite actually having the same residual sugar. It is crafted from a high-quality, partly barrel-aged ice cider and gently fortified using an apple distillate & infused with classic holiday spices: cinnamon, orange and lemon peel, cloves, and cardamom, produced from Brännland’s ice cider at Tevsjö distillery.

The result is an elegant yet accessible drink. The cider presents a beautiful red-amber hue. The nose is complex, offering notes of apple, citrus, barrel, cardamom, and cinnamon. On the palate, there is further spicy complexity with pronounced cloves and orange peel, complementing the core flavors of red apples and caramelized sugar. Its characteristic acidity is perfectly balanced by the sweetness. Versatile for enjoyment, serve it cold, warm, or as a key component in a festive cocktail. Alc. 12% vol.

It has wonderful winter and Christmas connotations, lasts very well open, and pairs unbelievably well with salty blue cheese (Stilton/Stichelton) - it's one of those pairings we use to showcase how elevating a truly good food and cider pairing can be.
